Here is a useful link http://www.foreclosures.com/pages/glossary.asp with definitions of commonly used terms in the world of foreclosures, also known as "REO", which is short for Real Estate Owned.  With all of the buzz about foreclosures, there is also a lot of uncertainty about the process.  Once the Notice of Default (commonly referred to as an NOD) has been filed, a trustees sale (auction at the court house, usually) can be scheduled not less than 90 days from the date of the NOD.  Once the 90 days have passed, the trustees sale may not be scheduled earlier than 20 days from the end of the 90 days.
